Clearview AI: New York-based startup that has created one of the largest facial recognition databases in the world.

 

Clearview AI has tracked social networks such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, collecting images with the facial features of more than 3 billion people, without obtaining users’ permission.

 

The European Commission has consulted with EU data protection authorities on whether the data of European citizens could have been compromised.

 

Clearview AI provides the US data protection authorities with a database that is capable of matching the face images of around 3 billion people.

 

A class-action lawsuit has been filed against the startup, for violation of Illinois state privacy rules.
